Capenhurst selected as interim storage site for submarine reactor vessels
The Ministry of Defence has selected the Capenhurst Nuclear Services site in Cheshire as the preferred site to store radioactive reactor pressure vessels from dismantled nuclear submarines. The selection of a site concludes a process begun in 2012 and means that decommissioning work can begin on the submarines.

Cancellation of Trident programme would have limited impact on Scottish jobs
A new report published jointly by the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and the Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament shows that many of the skills used by Scottish workers in the Trident nuclear weapons programme could be transferred to other non-Trident submarine work, surface warship work or economic development activity in alternative areas.
